The rarity of many of the prints in the library of the Amsterdam Remonstrant Church gives the collection great historical value.
The collection of prints from the library of the Amsterdam Remonstrant Church is relatively small in size. With more than 400 prints, even within the Special Collections of the University of Amsterdam it is one of the smaller collections. What makes the collection so valuable, however, is the high quality of the printing, the rarity of many of the prints and its great historical value. The Remonstrant Brotherhood emerged during a period of Dutch history in which political and religious relations within the Netherlands were established for the coming centuries, and this period in particular is well represented within the collection.
