Materials from the Special Collections may not be taken out, but must be used within the Library. In the De la Fontaine Verweyzaal requested items are delivered to the desk from the depots four times a day: at 10:00, 12:00, 14:00 and 16:00 h. Requested items will be reserved in your name for a period of seven days.

Holders of a valid library card or UvA or HvA student or staff ID card may also use the catalogue to submit a request from home. For some types of materials, especially manuscripts, a written request form must be completed at the desk of the De la Fontaine Verweyzaal. Restrictions on use

Very delicate and valuable items may only be consulted following the approval of the curator. These items must be requested in advance. Please, note that there are one to three working days between request and consult. The catalogue will report ‘Request subject to approval’ and the appropriate procedure will be specified.
